The aim of this course is to provide you with basic information on the hazards, risks and controls for abrasive wheels.
Throughout this course your understanding will be tested, and the results recorded. You need to answer 80 percent of the questions correctly to pass the course.

  • Identify the hazards associated with abrasive wheels
    • Fast moving, abrasive cutting components (abrasion/cutting/ removal of body parts and eye injuries)
    • Sparks/ splinters and flying debris
    • Dust and fumes (inhalation)
    • Vibration (HAVs)
    • Noise (Hearing loss)
  • Identify the controls for abrasive wheels
    • Inspection of equipment
    • Handling and storage
    • Using the equipment correctly (identify misuse)
    • Setting up a safe working area
    • Proper mounting/guards/fixed shields PPE
  • Explain the regulations association with abrasive wheels
    • Manufacturer responsibilities
