Cresent and Reece Safety sign off on new LOTO Awareness course

Combining expertise, Reece Safety and Cresent have signed off the scripts for a new e-learning course aimed at those looking for an awareness level understanding of Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO).

Cresent, Control of Work (CoW) and Health and Safety specialists partnered with Reece Safety, Lockout experts, earlier this year. In forming this partnership it was identified that there was a definite need for an awareness level LOTO e-learning course.  Working together the two have now signed off the finalised scripts for this course and Cresent’s Creative Learning team is about to start production on the course in early September.

Cresent and Reece Safety both bring their unique expertise to the table for this course. Cresent was involved in writing the UK Health and Safety Executive (HSE) Guidance on Permit to Work systems (HSG250) and The safe isolation of plant and equipment (HSG253), as well as being Control of Work experts and providing CoW systems to hazardous industries over the past 35 years. Reece Safety is a Lock Out Tag Out specialist, supplying LOTO equipment for over 14 years and providing expert advice and great service.

What is LOTO and why do we think there is a need for this course?

LOTO – Lock Out Tag Out – fits into the isolation process which of course is a control measure to prevent harm to people, plant and the environment. LOTO refers to the specific practice or process of actually locking, or disconnecting equipment with special devices to prevent it being connected to an energy source.

Through speaking with customers, working with high risk activities, a clear need for a foundation level understanding of the Energy Isolations processes was identified. Working together, Reece Safety and Cresent have combined their expertise to create a solution that meets this need.
