Authorised Gas Tester Level 2
Ensure your Authorised Gas Testers have the relevant knowledge to Survey for Flammable and Toxic Gases and Too Much or Too Little Oxygen Present
This course is suitable for any oil and gas personnel that need to be
able to test for the presence of toxic and flammable gases as well as
oxygen. This web-enabled course has been fully approved in
accordance with the OPITO Authorised Gas Tester (Level 2) standard.
It features highly interactive multimedia exercises including virtual
360° environments to ensure active trainee participation.
On completion of this course, trainees will be able to demonstrate an
understanding of the necessary skills to perform a gas test survey as
part of the requirements for ensuring a safe working environment where
toxic or flammable gases may be present or there could be too little or
too much oxygen present.
NOTE: This is the mid level of authorisation within the OPITO approval
scheme and includes the necessary detail for surveying for flammable
or toxic gases or oxygen except for approving confined spaces for entry.

• Be able to survey areas for potentially flammable or toxic gases using the detection equipment available
• Be able to survey areas and verify suitable oxygen levels
• Be aware of the capabilities and limitations of flammable gas test equipment
• Appreciate the requirements of Permit to Work procedures and specified requirements relating to gas
testing.
